THE CHALLENGE
One of PROmetal’s main customers is AIRA Robotics, a robotics production company whose main business relates to robot design and production for food-processing lines. One of these robots features an end arm assembled with metallic parts that aids in laser-marking products on the food-processing line. AIRA asked metallic parts producer PROmetal to change the laser head design in order to reduce weight and enhance performance.
RESULTS
PROmetal suggested a transformation of the laser head’s parts from metallic to plastic parts using HP Multi Jet Fusion technology and HP 3D HR PA 12. When the transformation was complete, they achieved:

Lower energy consumption:
With smaller robots on the line, the machine requires less energy during production.
Weight reduction: Thanks to an overall weight reduction of 75% for the entire robot, smaller robots can be used instead of the current larger and more expensive robots.
